85% of disabilities are invisible. This does not mean that they do not require special attention, but simply that they cannot be noticed if the person does not wish to discuss with them openly. They can be quite diverse in their nature, and include chronic or disabling illnesses, cognitive disorders, or physical disabilities.

The first is intended for deaf and hard of hearing people. The second one, when placed at the back of a life, and in front of the door, facilitates the reverse walk for people with reduced mobility. Finally, the last ones are useful for blind and visually impaired people to detect the beginning of each step and prevent people from tripping.

Diabetes is today one of the most common modern diseases with its signs, complications, and treatments which often hit the headlines in specialized press or healthcare organisation prevention campaigns. Diabetes is all around us.

Mark Zuckerberg is colour blind. Colour blindness is a hereditary disorder affecting the ability to perceive colours, notably red and green. People do not talk about it as an illness but as a disorder, as no treatment exists to correct this inability to perceive colours. Blue is the colour that Mark Zuckerberg can best distinguish. This is, therefore, the colour he chose to represent his site, Facebook.

In order to best integrate this colleague, it is preferable to plan the tasks from the start, if possible, and to avoid any last-minute changes. Uncertainty, ambiguity or last-minute changes can be destabilizing. It is therefore necessary to clearly prioritize and provide some structure. In this case, team awareness, coaching and/or the inclusion of an expert can be undertaken in agreement with the new employee.

Let's do away with prejudice! Psychological disabilities do not influence intellectual abilities or capacities, and if you need some proof: Jim Carrey, Demi Lovato and even Muriel Robin have all enjoyed prestigious careers despite their respective situations.

A person suffering from any of these disabilities will, in the majority of cases, require his or her team to listen and be reassured about his or her skills and abilities. Do not hesitate to offer encouragement, without being excessively compassionate.

Whilst help is often much appreciated, and often necessary, it is important not to be overly intrusive. Just as any person, somebody with a visual impairment may feel uncomfortable when imposed physical contact. It is, therefore, preferable to first mention what you propose so as not to lead to any lack of respect.

Disorders with the prefix "Dys" comprise specific cognitive disorders and learning disorders which they cause. Specific cognitive disorders appear during a child's development, before or during early learning, and persist in adulthood. These disorders can be classified into 6 categories: dyslexia (specific issues with writing), dysphasia (specific issues with speaking), dyspraxia (specific issues with motor development and/or visual and spatial abilities), attention disorders with or without hyperactivity (specific issues with attention deficit and/or control), specific issues with memory development,  dyscalculia (specific numerical issues). Disorders with the prefix "Dys" only affect a person's precise cognitive function (reading, speaking, etc.). They do not affect understanding or reasoning.

French Sign Language (FSL) is a pictorial and gestural language used by people with hearing impairments and some hearing people. French Sign Language relies heavily on mimics (expression by way of a defined gesture for objects, actions, feelings), imitation (characteristic of an object, action), as well as symbols, allusions and conventions. Facial expressions are very important.
